Francine Merry

Francine Merry was a regular member of music staff at English National Opera: in the 1995-’96 season as Vocal Consultant for Turandot and working on Hans Werner Henze’s opera The Prince of Homburg - as coach and also as pianist for a workshop on the opera attended by the composer. She returned to ENO as member of music staff and offstage conductor for the highly acclaimed production of Zimmermann’s Die Soldaten.
Francine Merry was appointed Head of Music of Bath and Wessex Opera for their 1994 season with responsibility of preparing the soloists for the operas.
She has been a member of staff of the opera departments at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and London Royal Schools’ Vocal Faculty, based at the Royal College of Music. She also worked as assistant conductor and coach on a production of Cosi fan Tutte at Opera North.
Alongside her work as a conductor in the opera house in Aachen, Germany and as chorus director at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Spain, she was active as a vocal coach for the resident singers.
Her experience extends to the oratorio repertoire as can be seen in her positions as Chorus Director of various choruses in London and abroad.
